چکیده

In this paper we propose a methodology for the design of student modeler autonomous agent based on constraint model. The function of our autononious agent is to interpret the student’s constraint violations arid draw a behavioral schema of the student’s knowledge transfer skills on neural networks concepts. We aimed to build a student modeler by taking advantage of both the theoretical framework of the constraint-based model and the autononiou~ agent. This enables us to generate from a set of constraints desirable jiinctions such as, task generation, hints, arid domain application metaphors related to the student’s learning goals. We present the fundanientul issue of how to represent a student knowledge transfer skills in an autonomous agent.

Towards Predicting Future Transfer of Learning

We present an automated detector that can predict a student’s future performance on a transfer post-test, a post-test involving related but different skills than the skills studied in the tutoring system, within an Intelligent Tutoring System for College Genetics. We show that this detector predicts transfer better than Bayesian Knowledge Tracing, a measure of student learning in intelligent tu...

Transfer of Learning Between 3D Modeling Systems

Recently, many individuals have been faced with a transfer of learning issue, surrounding the move from one 3-D CAD system to another. The purpose of this research was to test the hypothesis that, with minimal instruction, users can transfer their established high level modeling strategies between packages (thus preserving an important element of efficiency and effectiveness). This transfer wil...

This project aimed to quantitatively measure the ability of first year science students to transfer their mathematical skills and knowledge to a physical context. An instrument used in earlier studies to measure transfer of mathematical knowledge was modified for this project, and tested with 49 student volunteers. A Transfer Index was developed to measure the degree of transfer of the students...

Diagnosing Language Transfer in a Web-based ICALL that Self-Improves its Student Modeler

This paper describes a Web-based Intelligent Computer Assisted Language Learning (ICALL) system that may self-improve its student modeler while it acquires knowledge from its users. The ICALL system is called Web-PVT and is a Web-based language tutor for the domain of the passive voice of the English language. The student modeling approach of Web-PVT considers the issue of language transfer of ...

Distance Learning by Intelligent Tutoring System. Part I: Agent-Based Architecture for User-Centred Adaptivity

Agent technology has been suggested by experts to be a promising approach to fully extend Intelligent Tutoring Systems (ITS). By using intelligent agents in an ITS architecture it is possible to obtain an individual tutoring system adaptive to the needs and characteristics of every student. The general architecture of the ITS proposed is formed by the three components that characterize an ITS –...
